Campaigners concerned by plans for thousands of homes in North Somerset’s countryside will host drop-in sessions to inform villagers of the proposals.

The North Somerset Villages Alliance (NSVA) will deliver a pair of presentations on the Joint Spatial Plan (JSP) in Congresbury this month.

The JSP has been created by councils to tackle the West Country’s housing shortfall, but plans for 2,800 homes at Mendip Springs near Congresbury and Churchill have angered villagers.

The Old School Rooms, in Station Road, will host the drop-in consultation sessions on November 16 from 3.30-6.30pm and November 17 from 10am-1pm.

NSVA chairman Mary Short said: “We think the majority might be surprised by what the JSP has in store.

“These plans are crucial to the way in which North Somerset will develop over the next few decades.

“Once village spaces are lost to buildings they are gone forever.”
