Shoppers ‘could have been seriously harmed’ at Cadbury Garden Centre after a glass roof shattered at the weekend.
David Osborn, aged 66, was walking towards the till at the Congresbury store on Saturday after enjoying a spot of lunch with his wife when he heard a loud bang.
A laminated glass pane had fallen to the floor.
Fortunately, no-one was stood beneath it as shards of glass 'showered' from the ceiling.
David said members of staff were quick to respond and they made sure customers were out of harm's way.
He added: "My wife and I had finished having our lunch and we were walking towards the till when we heard the enormous bang which was followed by a shower of sharp glass shards.
"It could have been dangerous, someone could have been seriously injured and harmed. "
Store manager, Stuart Blues said the appropriate safety measures were in place, and no one was injured.
