North Somerset Council is ahead of Government targets when it comes to how many of its vehicles are electric.
The authority has converted 37 per cent of its small van and car fleet to electric, beating Government targets of 25 per cent by 2021.
The council received £130,000 of funding from the Department for Transport’s Go Ultra Low project to convert the vehicles.
It now has 29 electric vehicles for staff to use.
The authority’s executive member for transport Elfan Ap Rees said electric vehicles are ‘integral’ to tackling air pollution issues.
He added: “I would urge the public and local businesses to speak to our sustainable travel team about how they can join in the electric revolution. There’s never been a better time to make lasting and effective changes to the way we travel.”
