An A-road will be shut for eight nights for resurfacing work, starting on Monday.

The A369 in Pill will be repaired by North Somerset Council contractor Skanska at a cost of £230,000.

The route, between Rectory Way and Sandy Lane, and Pill Road, from St Katherine's School, will be shut from 8pm-6am each day, until December 10.

Damaged manholes, signs and kerbs will be fixed too.

The council's head of transport and infrastructure Colin Medus said: "The A369 is a major route linking North Somerset to Bristol.

"The maintenance works may cause some disruption, but by working overnight the contractor can reduce this impact, by scheduling the closures when traffic data shows the fewest users."

The council says it has considered the roadworks at junction 19 of the M5 and Portishead's Wyndham Way before scheduling the work.

The X3A bus service will be affected and passengers are urged to check First's website before travelling.
