Roadworks will be carried out in Clevedon this week, with North Somerset Council warning drivers to expect some congestion.

The pedestrian crossing in Kenn Road, at the junction of Treefield Road, is being upgraded due to its age.

The council runs a 15-year replacement programme, and the traffic signal controller, poles and signal heads will be replaced.

The work, costing £13,000, begins today (Monday) and should be complete by the weekend.

A council spokesman said: "It is anticipated that the works will take one week to complete and temporary signals will be in place to facilitate the works and also to allow pedestrians to cross the road safely.

"While the works are being carried out there may be some congestion, but this will be kept to a minimum."
