Travellers who set up camp in Clevedon have been asked to leave by tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.

A group arrived at the playing field in Strode Road yesterday, but North Somerset Council officers have asked them to leave by 9am.

A council spokesman said: “We visited the encampment this morning and have concluded our health and welfare investigations.

“We have now served a direction requesting the group to leave by 9am tomorrow morning.

“If the group is still on site after this time we will request a court hearing for an order to remove them.”

Travellers have also caused damage to property at Portishead Town Football Club after they set up camp at the site over the weekend.
