No dog control orders for Backwell
BACKWELL Parish Council has decided against applying for any dog control orders for fear of the safety of those trying to enforce it.
North Somerset Council is asking all parish and town councils whether they would like any dog control orders set up in their towns and villages, which could restrict dogs from certain areas or make sure pets are kept on leads.
Authorised people would then be able to challenge anyone breaking the rules.
Speaking at Backwell Parish Council meeting on Thursday, chairman Colin Pope said: “I think it’s diabolical. If people try to enforce it they are likely to get punched. I suggest that we say we don’t wish to participate.”
