A NEW stroke drop-in centre has been launched in Portishead.

The first meeting will take place Clarence House in High Street on September 7 from 10.30am-12.30pm.

It will provide a central point where stroke survivors and their carers can get information and meet others in the same situation.

The group will be run by stroke survivors on behalf of South West Active Stroke and Heart (SWASH and will take place on the first Friday of every month.

Lorraine Rowsell, who has been instrumental in the Portishead project, said: “Sometimes stroke survivors just need a friendly face, someone who knows what they are going through, while others need practical help and advice. We hope that by sharing a cup of tea or coffee and having a few laughs we can all help each other.”
