A new president has been named by Portishead Rotary Club.

Senior vice-president Tony Mosely will take the reins from current president John Sleight on July 1.

Over the past 12 months, John has overseen numerous projects.

The club helped donate items to homeless people at a Bristol hostel in April, while in March members gathered at the Lake Grounds to raise awareness of World Polio Day.

In the same month the annual swimathon was held with hundreds of keen swimmers taking part.

He said: “I have had a brilliant year.

“Our club has achieved so much with the support of the Portishead and local community, and I would like to thank them for changing lives locally, nationally and internationally.

“I wish Tony every success in his forthcoming year.”
