BRITAIN’S largest pet supplier is investing more than £400,000 in the opening of a new Clevedon store later this month.

Pets at Home will open a new branch in Hither Green Industrial Estate on March 26, providing a boost for the town’s economy and creating nine jobs, including the creation of new grooming positions.

Peter Reis, area manager, said: “There was a strong demand from Clevedon pet owners for Pets at Home to come to town and we’re very pleased to have been able to grant them their wish.

“Pets at Home is committed to recruiting from the local area and I’m pleased we’ve found a team of talented individuals in Clevedon. They’re all extremely passionate about pets and can’t wait to get started.”

Applicants go through various stages to assess their compatibility to the role with those recruited given the chance to gain qualifications in pet care during their career.

Shelly Long, store manager who has four years of experience at the Portishead branch, said: “It’s been a busy few months and now my team and I can’t wait to open the doors and welcome our new customers and their pets to the store.”

The business, founded in 1991, provides thousands of pet supplies and has more than 390 sites across the UK.
