Martina Dodder held the first one on Sunday at the village hall in Ox House Lane.

She now wants to run a café every month and is looking for volunteers to help out.

She said: “I recently moved to the area and I feel I want to create a meeting place for neighbours to get to know one another – a place with a bit of community spirit.

“There isn’t a café nearby so setting one up in the village hall is ideal. The hall have agreed to let me have a go.

“I would like the café to be run by the neighbours for the neighbours.

“It will be a place for locals to meet and have a chat over delicious food.

“If anyone would like to help cook, serve, set up, clean please do get in touch via our Facebook page: Community Café at Failand Village Hall.”

The café will run on the last Sunday of every month from 9am to noon.

Volunteers are also able to pick up elderly people unable to get to the hall themselves.
