Clevedon’s new £800,000 café bar, Teatro Lounge, has opened and the Times has a £100 voucher, which can be used at the venue, to give away to one lucky reader.
The Teatro Lounge, located in Great Western Road next to the Curzon cinema, has been transformed into a retro venue complete with dramatic, film-based artwork, oversized furniture and statement light fittings, after originally being used as office and storage space.
The bar, which is part of the Loungers chain, will provide visitors with a high quality coffee and delicious food including all-day brunches and tapas, which can be enjoyed in the two-storey indoor dining area or roof terrace.
Alex Reilley, executive vice-chairman of Loungers, said: “As a Clevedon resident I am delighted to be opening Teatro Lounge in my home town.
“There’s already a thriving and vibrant community and we’re really looking forward to playing our part in the foodie scene here.
“We do very well from Impero Lounge in Portishead and there have been lots of people bending my ear about why there wasn’t one in Clevedon.”
The venue, which is expected to create about 25 jobs, will rent the converted space from the Curzon to provide the historic cinema with a new source of revenue.
Susannah Shaw, Curzon’s chief executive, believes its opening will bring a ‘surge’ of life to Clevedon and will provide a ‘brilliant’ place for people to socialise.
She said: “I am delighted to see the completion of this gorgeous new café bar for Clevedon.
“It will bring a surge of new life into the town centre and create a brilliant social hub for the Curzon.
“The Loungers chain has created attractive cafés across the country, but we think this has got to be one of the best.
“It’s amazing to think that only a few months ago this was a derelict warehouse.”
The Times has teamed up with Teatro Lounge to offer one lucky reader a £100 voucher to spend at the new café bar.
