Councillors have issued a plea for help creating a plan for Portishead’s future.

Portishead Town Council has begun creating a neighbourhood plan, which will be used as a framework for development in future.

The plan will influence housing, employment and infrastructure growth.

Guidelines for education, environment and heritage will also be included in the plan, and the town council has called on people to help shape the Portishead's future.

Chairman Paul Gardner said: "We need a plan so we as a community has a shared vision for what we want to do with the town - not just for the next year but for the next 10 years.

"It's about promoting sustainable development - meeting the needs of the present without compromising future generations."
