Nailsea Lions has donated £280 to the Bristol Heart Institute to thank staff for the ‘excellent’ treatment given to one of their members.

Members of the group raised money for the Above & Beyond Appeal to fund a new echocardiograph facility at the institute.

Club member Peter Etheridge had a triple heart bypass operation at the institute and has spent a lot of time there receiving treatment.

In the summer, Peter and his wife Vivien opened up their garden for the Lions’ cream tea event and asked for money to be donated to the heart institute.

Lydia McGivern, community fundraiser for the appeal, said patients who need ultrasounds have to be taken from the institute through a dark passageway for 20 minutes to get to the BRI.

The new echocardiograph facility will provide all the services under one roof at the Bristol Heart Institute.
