A charity has donated hundreds of pounds towards new 'state-of-the-art' hospital equipment.

Nailsea Lions gifted £280 to the Bristol Heart Institute to help it fund
a echocardiograph facility.

It comes after one of the Lions, Peter Etheridge, had a triple heart by-pass operation at the hospital.

During the summer, Peter and his wife Vivien opened their garden for a cream-tea afternoon and asked for the money raised to be donated to the Institute.

Lions vice-president, Peter Smith, said: “Some of the sickest patients needing ultrasound scans have to be taken from the Heart Institute to Bristol Royal Infirmary, a journey which takes around 20 minutes.

“This can be distressing for the patient and is time wasting for staff so the echocardiograph facility will provide all the necessary services, using state-of-the-art equipment under one roof, right where it is needed.”
