Bowls tournament raises cash for dementia charity

A bowling tournament has raised more than £800 for a dementia charity in Nailsea.

Brian Powell organised an indoor bowls competition in aid of Memories At The Barn which helps his mother-in-law.

The charity cup took place at Nailsea Indoor Bowls Club and was sponsored by Pring & Co.

Peter Onion and Barbara Sheppard won first prize and the victorious couple was presented with a cup by Stephen Pring.

More than £800 has been raised so far, with almost £200 collected through the raffle, thanks to 
the generous donations from Brabantia.

The money raised will go to the Memory Café at the Tithe Barn Trust which offer specialist activities to dementia suffers and their carers.

Brian said: “Dementia a very cruel disease and is devastating for both the people who have dementia and those who provide care.”
