A DENTIST who died as a result of suffocation, committed suicide at her Nailsea home, an inquest heard today (Tues).

Melanie Gould, aged 51, was found by her consultant husband, Dr Timothy Gould, in a bedroom at their house in Nowhere Lane, Trendlewood Way, on October 18 last year.

Paramedics managed to resuscitate her but she died three days later at 3pm on October 21 at Bristol Royal Infirmary, of a hypoxic brain injury caused by asphyxiation.

Mrs Gould, or Dr Williams as she was known professionally, who was born in Tanzania in 1960, had left three letters with a cut rose on each.

Assistant deputy coroner Dr Simon Fox, speaking at Flax Bourton Coroner’s Court, recorded a verdict of suicide.

He said: “Whatever the wider circumstances are that led to her death the evidence points to her taking her own life.

“The exhibits in the form of notes and the various other aspects about the manner in which she died suggest that she intended to kill herself.”
