Nailsea Croquet Club, in Avening Close, is holding a charity day on May 19 from 11am-6pm.

Admission is free but visitors will pay to play croquet with tuition and advice from club members.

Guests can try out golf croquet for £3 and various skills including roquets, rolls, stop shots, rushes and jump shorts for 50p each.

There will be a prize for anyone who hits the 'tea lady' – which refers to a shot where a ball his hit from 25 yards away.

Refreshments are available and visitors are welcome to take along packed lunches.

Kathy Wallace, from Nailsea Croquet Club, said: “The event should be a great day out and is suitable for all ages.

“The charity day is an opportunity to find out what this sport is all about and to raise funds for the children's hospice.”
