Archant

Nailsea’s Community Speedwatch Team is cracking down on speeding motorists.

The group has grown from three to six as people become more concerned about drivers speeding through their towns and villages.

John Hunter, from the team, said: “We’re there at the roadside to protect pedestrians, especially children and other motorists who don’t speed and threaten the community.

“We are seeing more drivers with expensive, high-powered, leased vehicles irresponsibly speeding around the town at any time of day or night.

“We are taking several actions with assistance with the police, including asking the speed Enforcement unit to extend its activity beyond existing sites to new ones.”

Anyone interested in joining the Nailsea Community Speedwatch Team, can call Avon and Somerset police on 101 or email John at john.hunter77@btinternet.com
