Nailsea artist designs float for London Mayor

AN ARTIST from Nailsea displayed her work to thousands of onlookers, including the Lord Mayor of London in a special parade.

Sarah Malton, aged 22, was chosen by the Port of London Authority to design its float for the Lord Mayor’s Show.

The event, which marked the start of Alderman Michael Bear’s term of office as the 683rd Lord Mayor of the city, featured 150 horses, 21 carriages and 20 marching bands in the parade, with 6,000 watching the spectacle.

Sarah spent four weeks drawing and painting the designs for the float which featured boating activities on the Thames.

Sarah, who studied drawing and applied art at the University of the West of England in Bristol, said: “It was great to see my work paraded at such a prestigious and historic event. The float even made an appearance on the BBC.”
