A vital service which helps people attend medical appointments and social events is desperately in need of volunteers.

Nailsea and District Community Transport is appealing for volunteers who can spare a few hours each week to drive people around North Somerset.

Operations manager Janice Walsh said: “If you have a few hours spare each week and would like to help – we are looking for volunteer drivers to take the elderly and mobility impaired to the shops, to hospital and doctors appointment and out for trips.

“If you have never driven a minibus before – don’t worry all the training you need will be provided.”

More: Community transport route will connect three North Somerset towns.

The charity, which is based in Southfield Road, is a lifeline for many people who cannot drive, as its buses provide a door-to-door service to health appointments, shopping trips and social outings.
