Mothers’ Union celebrates 100 years
BACKWELL Mothers’ Union is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
Along with the 13 other groups in the Bath and Wells Diocese, the 35 caring members have raised a staggering �35,000 this year for charities and campaigns.
The MU has set up a number of national and international projects including helping victims or rape and female circumcision, knitting clothes for orphans in eastern Europe, knitting toys to soothe child patients in UK ambulances as well as blankets for nursing homes.
Members celebrated their group’s birthday with a special church service and buffet.

The group meets at Church House in St Andrew’s Church on the fourth Tuesday of the month. For meeting times check the church magazine.
