More than 9,000 raised for Poppy Appeal
GENEROUS people from Backwell and Flax Bourton gave more than 9,300 to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal this year.
The Backwell and Flax Bourton Branch of the charity was given 568 from schools, 2,274 from house collections and 3,789 from collections at Bristol Airport.
A further 2,700 was collected by the village clubs, shops, churches and businesses. The branch would like to thank everyone who gave to the appeal and to all those helped with collections.
The sum raised was a big increase on last year. Anyone interested in buying the small enamel poppy pins, for a donation of 2 or more, can call Janet Briggs on 01275 462773 or Graham Hackett on 462606.
