MORE than 100 new homes will be built in Portishead’s marina area after permission was granted by North Somerset Council.

Developer Taylor Wimpey will build the 117 two, three and four-bedroom homes on land off Harbour Road.

The scheme, entitled Harbour Edge, will also include among the 117 new houses, 35 affordable homes for local people.

A planning application was approved by the council on January 21 and it is hoped work will begin on site next month, with a view to begin selling the homes in April.

Charlie Joseph, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey, said: “We are delighted to have gained approval for our Harbour Edge development in Portishead, which will help meet the ongoing demand for great-value, high-quality homes in the local area.

“We are very much looking forward to beginning work on these beautiful new properties.”
