Bristol Airport has begun considering different expansion options, such as adding a new terminal to the site, as it prepares a new draft masterplan.

A 10-week consultation has begun, and will seek views from the public which will guide the airport in its development plans built around forecasted passenger growth.

Three scenarios under consideration are; gradual expansion of the current layout by buying extra land; a replacement terminal by 2035, making space for additional hotels and a plaza; and a second terminal to the south of the runway, linked to the existing terminal by an underground tunnel.

Janis Kong, chairman of the airport, said: “We need to consider the next chapter in our story, up to and beyond our centenary year.”
