Parents have set up a monthly disco in Portishead for people with additional needs.

The discos have proved extremely popular so far and organisers are hoping to put on other social events including sports camps, day trips and parties.

Chris Sperring, one of the organisers, said: “My son has severe autism and learning difficulties, but he really loves seeing his friends and has always loved music.

“When the monthly discos in Portishead folded last summer, a group of us decided we needed to do something to fill the void that was left for so many people.

“We have found a brilliant DJ and a passionate team of volunteers to ensure everyone has a really good time.”

United Response is supporting the discos which are held once a month on Fridays from 7.30-9pm in Folk Hall, High Street.

Entrance is £4 and refreshments are available. For details contact Chris on 07533 853941.
