A Lions club was blowing its own trumpet after members presented £1,000 to a brass band.

The Clevedon Lions Club handed the bumper cheque to the Lions Brass4Youth club during their weekly practice.

The charitable organisation organised a pre-Christmas concert at Christchurch Hall to help the band with much-needed support to cover transport and running costs – including the purchase of new instruments.

The brass group gives youngsters the opportunity to learn musical skills and has 83 young people involved and playing.

Some of the money raised at the concert will also go to St Nicholas Chantry School’s choir which also performed.

The money will go towards supporting the school’s musical department.

The Brass4Youth scheme has four bands and to find out more, visit lionsbrass4youth.weebly.com
