A HORTICULTURAL master class marked the start of a village-wide project to encourage residents to use more locally produced food.
Organised by Sustainable Pill and District, a session was held at Cross Lanes allotments in Pill when adults and children were taught the basics of cultivation by Giles Morris.
This was the first of a number of schemes planned for the next few months in the lead-up to a local food challenge in July.
From July 2 for a whole week, villagers will be challenged to only consume food which has been grown or sourced in the village. Shops will also be asked to stock more locally produced food.
