A BANGLADESHI man was grabbed by the throat during a racially aggravated assault in Clevedon.
Police are investigating the incident which took place outside Greggs in Queens Square at about 9am on Good Friday.
The victim was walking past the bakery when racial abuse was shouted at him by someone nearby.
The person who shouted then tried to punch the victim before grabbing him by the throat and pushing him against the shutters of Ladbrokes.
The suspect is described as a white man, 5ft 9ins tall, of average build and with short, ginger hair.
He was wearing a black woolly jumper with a motif on the left hand side, blue denim jeans and a pair of brown trainers with white edges.
