Man ‘in custody’ after sexual assaults

A 22-year-old man has been arrested today (Thursday) following a spate of sexual crimes in Yatton.

Four crimes were reported to police in the space of 24 hours over Sunday and Monday.

The first call came on Sunday when a woman said a man had exposed himself in High Street at about 9.20pm.

The next day a 33-year-old woman told police she was sexually assaulted in Stowey Road, before a teenage girl was ‘inappropriately grabbed’ in Henley Park that same evening.

And later on Monday evening teenage girls in Derham Park reported being flashed at be a man at about 7.30pm.

An Avon and Somerset Constabulary spokesman said: “We’ve arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with sexual assaults in Yatton.

“The man was arrested by officers in the early hours of this morning on suspicion of sexual assault and indecent exposure.

“He remains in custody at this time.”
