A FRUSTRATED man hurled a brick at a community centre in Portishead, smashing a front window.
Matthew Lewis, aged 35, threw the stone block from his girlfriend’s back garden in High Street at the Folk Hall on July 2.
The South Road resident was charged with causing criminal damage and appeared at North Somerset Magistrates in St Georges on July 26.
Rebecca Gardiner, prosecuting, said: “Mr Lewis had been drinking alcohol and had been feeling frustrated about having to care for his girlfriend who had broken her leg.
“He went into the garden and picked up a house brick, which he threw at the Folk Hall, smashing a front window plane. When questioned by police he said he felt remorseful and apologises for his behaviour.”
When asked by magistrates if he had anything to say, Lewis replied he had ‘no defence’.
Lewis was given a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay �459 in compensation and �85 costs.
