A FATHER from Portishead ran the London Marathon to raise money for Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Andrew Bessant chose the charity to collect cash for after his son Oliver, aged nine, was granted a wish by the foundation last year.
During a holiday in the Isle of Wight, the Bessant family had access to a hot tub and after just a week Oliver, who has epilepsy, noticed his muscles were considerably less stiff.
As a result, he made a wish to Starlight Children’s Foundation for his very own hot tub and the charity arranged for the youngster’s dream to come true.
To raise money to help the foundation grant wishes to many more children suffering serious illness, Andrew, aged 36 of The Garstons, took part in the London Marathon on April 17 and completed the 26.2 mile course in six hours and five minutes.
