A trailer has overturned on the M5, creating long delays between Portishead and Clevedon.

The crash has blocked the motorway northbound, between junctions 20 and 19.

It is not known at the moment if anyone has been injured in the crash.

Queues are forming on the motorway in both directions.

There is stop-start traffic northbound from junction 23 (Bridgwater), while southbound traffic is stacking back over the Avonmouth Bridge.

Delays of two-and-a-half hours were predicted by Highways England at 2.30pm this afternoon, with two lanes currently closed.

The accident has had a knock-on-effect for other routes too, with the B3124 busy through Weston-in-Gordano and the A370 very slow from Congresbury towards junction 21.
