A motorway crash has caused heavy traffic on the M5 this morning (Wednesday).

The accident occurred northbound between junction 19 (Portishead) and junction 18 (Avonmouth), and there are tailbacks to Clevedon as a result.

The hard shoulder and lane one have been closed, and there are estimated delays of 20 minutes.

It is expected to clear between 10.45am and 11am.

The M5 southbound is also congested.

First Bus says passengers catching the X3 or X4 can expect a delay of up to 45 minutes because of the incident as the accident has caused traffic to build on surrounding roads.
