M5 blocked after two-vehicle crash

A two-car crash on the M5 saw police close two lanes this morning (Wednesday).

The accident, involving a black Audi and red Vauxhall, occurred on the northbound carriageway between junction 19 (Portishead) and junction 20 (Clevedon).

The outside two lanes were blocked, leaving just two lanes for traffic to pass on its way to Bristol.

However, police confirmed they were reopened at about 8.25am.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary says there is ‘very slow traffic’ in the area as a result.

Highways England suggests the area will be disrupted for at least another hour.

Paramedics were also dispatched to the scene, but early reports suggest only minor injuries were sustained during the accident.
