Archant

Long Ashton was transported back to 1945 on Friday night at a celebration dance held in the village.

To mark the 70th anniversary of VE Day, a dance was held at the community centre in Keedwell Hill where guests danced the night away with the Thornbury Swing Band.

The event, organised by Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary in Barrow Gurney, saw the centre decked out in decorations reminiscent of the era with guests dressed up in soldier and pilot costumes as well as other traditional 1940s attire. A swing dance lesson was also put on and dancers could then refresh themselves with food and drink from a bar and 1940s style kitchen.
