Long Ashton’s facility looks set to get the upgrades, providing North Somerset Council (NSC) approves the plans which are set to be decided today (Wednesday).

The details outline provisions to install barriers, gates and fencing at the park and ride.

However, it has been suggested the restriction will stop people with bigger cars from entering the site – according to someone living nearby who made a comment on NSC’s planning website.

A BCC spokesman said: “The gates and barriers will help improve security and management at the facility to bring it up to standards with similar spaces operated by the authority.”

Long Ashton Parish Council has no concerns about the plans and an NSC officer said the improvements will not be detrimental to highway safety.
