A café which helps people with memory loss, the early symptoms of Alzheimer’s and dementia is on the hunt for volunteers.

Long Ashton Café, which is based at the village community centre, is searching for people who can welcome visitors, help with activities and serve refreshments.

The initiative was set-up by Liz Anderson and Karen Barrett in the spring, and sessions take place once a month.

Memory cafés have been launched in Nailsea, Portishead and Clevedon and volunteers are being encouraged to visit regularly, so guests can get to know them.

Liz and Karen Crowdfunded to start the group in Long Ashton, and raised £130 to kick-start the project earlier this year.

Sessions take place at the Long Ashton venue on the fourth Thursday of each month,. They run from 2.30-4.30pm.

To become a volunteer, email, or call Liz on 07967 587411 or Karen on 07855 402768.
