The Long Ashton Community Centre (LACC) and the Co-operative retail store has raised more than £3,000 towards gym equipment for a play area in the village.

LACC has been rasing funds to upgrade the play area in Peel Park in Long Ashton since the summer.

The village Co-op, in Weston Road, had a stall in its store this week to give people more information about the project.

A Co-op spokesman said: “We would like to give a huge thank you to all of the Co-op shoppers who supported our cause.

“We are delighted to announce we have raised £3,511.

“The money will pay for a cycling station and any left over will go towards a glut station.”

“We will continue to fundraise and aim to have enough to cover the cost of a rowing station too.”
