Villagers are throwing a Halloween party in tribute to a Long Ashton stalwart next month.

Kate Bolton and Sarah Jane announced they will bring back a plethora of village activities, starting with the gathering on October 31.

The pair decided more children's entertainment is needed in the village.

Back in the 1980s cake sales, baby shows and parties were thrown by Long Ashton carnival founder Christine Haynes.

Sarah and Kate brought back the popular village parade in July, which before this year had not run through Long Ashton's streets in nearly 30 years.

Kate said: "Christine started the processions in 1981, and I thought it would be lovely to run the event as a tribute to her efforts."

The pair are looking for around four volunteers to help with the party in October at Long Ashton Community Centre, in Keedwell Hill, from 3-5pm.

To get involved, call Kate on 07850 029859.
