PORTISHEAD’S new lifeboat station is on target for opening at the end of this month.

The new building, being created in Pier Road, is now watertight and plasterers, plumbers, electricians, carpenters and floor layers are carrying out their part of the project.

The new station will house the lifeboat and tractor as well as having store rooms, a crew training and meeting room, and a small kitchen.

New ramps have also been created to allow the lifeboat to be launched in all kinds of weather.

Once it is complete, the town’s lifeboat trust will be formally adopted by the RNLI.
