Portishead Lifeboat Station received a present before its official opening.

The Harbourside WI craft group handed over an embroidered lifebelt to Portishead Lifeboat Trust chairman Mike Roberts on June 16.

The group meets monthly at the Royal Inn and decided last year to do something to mark the opening of the much-needed station.

Over six months, eight ladies created the artwork which depicted some of the most famous sites off the North Somerset coast, including Marine Lake.

And the landlord of the Royal Inn helped out with the carpentry, before the present was handed over last week.

The gift from the Harbourside WI came after the group held fundraisers to help the lifeboat station appeal.
