AN OLD phone box in Backwell is to be repainted and locked to preserve the iconic structure for villagers.
Backwell Parish Council was considering moving the booth in Westfield Road, but has decided against it due to the cost and fears that the phone box could collapse as it is built on a slight hill.
At a meeting on September 6, the council agreed to keep the phone box in its original place but paint it and keep it locked.
