A guides group is at risk of shutting down after almost 50 years of teaching girls life skills.

The 2nd Long Ashton Guides is in desperate need for volunteers to help out, otherwise it is at risk of folding.

Hundreds of leaflets seeking volunteers have been put around the village to try to drum up support.

Division commissioner Jane Micchie is urging would-be helpers to get in touch as soon as possible.

She said: "This lovely guide unit has been going since 1970 and if no volunteers are found to keep it open it will have to close at the end of term.

"We are an enthusiastic group of girls aged 10-14, but we need volunteers to come forward to help keep our unit open, so we can carry on doing all the fun things we love.

"If you have some free time to spare on a Monday evening please contact us either through our Facebook page Girlguiding Long Ashton or email wraxalldivision@gmail.com

"We look forward to hearing from you."
