Church auction raises more than £8,000

An event held to raise funds for the upkeep of a church raised more than £8,000.

The midsummer auction and silent auction saw more than 100 bidders take part on Saturday.

Items for the auction were donated from villagers from Yatton, Kenn and Kingston Seymour.

Gifts such as caravan holidays, Rolls Royce trips, tickets to various places were bid on the day.

Proceeds raised will go towards Yatton Moor Church.

Churchwarden at Kingston Seymour's All Saints Church, Sue Thomas, said the event exceed expectations and it is delighted to have made such a huge amount of money during the auction.

She said: "The event was amazing, a lot of people turned up.

"People who took part were so generous with their bidding and the weather was lovely.

"Everyone really came together to make the event such a success."
