Katie Barry, a year three pupil at Fairfield School in Backwell, has super ventricular and atrial tachycardia which causes episodes of fast heartbeat.

However, the brave youngster decided she wanted to help others suffering from heart conditions so she ran a mile around her school in aid of British Heart Foundation Day.

Her mum Pippa and headteacher Lesley Barton joined Katie on the challenge and her proud friends and classmates sponsored the event.

Katie has raised £231 for the cause.
