Portishead In Bloom has been going for gold over the past seven days as it looks to impress judges once again.

The group has a record which almost every UK city, town and village would envy when it comes to horticultural competitions and it hopes the tireless work of volunteers pays off again in 2017.

South West In Bloom competition judges were in town on July 14 to have a look at the public displays dotted around Portishead.

They took in the Lake Grounds, the High Street and residential areas near the marina during their whistle-stop tour.

Their visit culminated with a music concert in Jubilee Park at lunchtime.

Portishead has won eight gold medals in as many years and it means the town has been entered into the national champion of champions category too this year.

Judges for that national competition will inspect the town in early August.
