POLICE officers investigating the murder of Bristol woman Joanna Yeates searched bags of clothing at a Nailsea charity shop in a hunt for evidence.
Earlier this month, detectives said when her body was found in Long Wood Lane in Failand on Christmas Day she was only wearing one grey, ski-type sock.
They made an appeal to find the missing one and, in response, a member of the public informed police he had previously dropped a similar sock into a basket outside Break in High Street, Nailsea.
When the police followed up the lead, staff at the charity shop had already sorted the basket but allowed the officers to search through bags of items that would not have been sold on.
However, their search was unsuccessful and they could not find the sock.
