Tap dancers in Nailsea joined thousands of people from around the country to take part in a world record attempt.

Almost 50 adults and children from Jazz On Tap Dance Company in Nailsea joined in with the nationwide record-breaking bid run by The Performers Project.

The record stands at 7,596 people and the dancers are waiting to hear whether they have set a new record for the most people dancing the same tap routine.

In 2017, the record attempt was just 70 dances short.

This year’s routine was set to the former JLS group member Aston Merrygold’s single Get Stupid, which was first released in 2015.

Members also held a cake sale after the tap-athon which raised an extra £115 for Children In Need.

Due to the generosity of 2nd Nailsea Scouts, the group also has an extra £50 to add to the fund, making the total up to £165.

The group also sold T-shirts to raise money for the cause.
