MORE than 2,500 has been donated to charity by two adventurers from Pill.

In January, Oli Dixey and Rob Sheppard spent a gruelling five days camping under their upturned boat on Denny Island in the Bristol Channel during some of the worst storms seen in years.

They took on the challenge to raise money for the community swimming pool at Crockerne Primary School in Pill and Children’s Hospice South West, which runs Charlton Farm in Wraxall. Two cheques for 1,282 each have now been handed to the charities.

Jenny Charlewood of the Crockerne Pool Business Support Group said: “We were amazed Rob and Oli managed to stay on the island for the whole time during the worst storms in years. Their efforts show just how important the pool and the hospice are to the local community and we thank them both along with everyone who donated to these two important local causes.”
